Panzerbox Mod: Tribute to Wolfenstein
by CustomPCMAX & MNPCTech
Worklog: Here
Wolfenstein is a classic game series in its own right and we've seen plenty of tribute mods for this and other games over the years. This one is special however because not only has forum user CustomPCMAX (also of
custompcmax.com) obtained a pre-production sample of NZXT's new Panzerbox midi tower case, but he's also been collaborating with Bill Owen at
MNPCTech (aka mnpctech) so there's sure to be some awesome paint jobs and insanely shiny bits involved too!
As with other nominees this month, CustomPCMAX's project log is video enabled with a clip of a review of the new case by mnpctech. Good job guys and it looks like the Panzerbox's huge fans will shift some air too! You'll have to wait till we get our hands on it.
Above are some early sketches of the mod. We can already see the target fan grills pictured in a minute and evidence of a large side panel Wolfenstein logo. It's sounding good so far! Of course, any FPS mod should feature a weapon of some kind and this comes in the form of an Airsoft Glock pistol which will be added to a handle fitting. Interesting!
The standard 190mm case fan is big but mnpctech decided to replace it with a gargantuan 250mm fan from
performance-pcs.com which glows an eerie green through the Panzerbox's black mesh roof. Something we loved in other mods from mnpctech are the target fan grills that looked awesome on his Red Baron case mod. Luckily they're back in Panzerbox Mod: Tribute to Wolfenstein.
A steady hand is required to deal with the logo stickers which are the main feature in the side panel and split the window in two. In the second image you can see part of the side panel has already been cut away and the Wolfenstein logo is looking great!
Nearly finished, the side panel has seen the last of the cutting. We love how the logo seems to reach out thanks to certain letters overlapping the window areas. As the PSU will be mounted next to the windows, mnpctech decided to use black smoked acrylic to make things look neater. The finished article on the right looks simply top notch.
